Browns add Eli McGuire to active roster

Recommended Posts

The Brownies have to win this game. With the Hype this Browns team got all offseason, losing to a team with a backup QB, and all of the injuries the Jets are facing would be lower than going 1-15, hell, that was EXPECTED. Everything changes with expectations & if they lose to the Jets with the characters they have at that team we could see an implosion.

Look at whats coming up for the Brownies- LA RAMS, @ RAVENS, @ 49ers, SEAHAWKS, @ PATRIOTS, @ BRONCOS.

That is NOT AN EASY schedule, talk about a MUST WIN tonight. 0-2 heading into that schedule is a death knell.

This is obviously an inside information play, like Davis Webb to the Bills was.

I think Gase is respected, there is no film on him with the Jets, so opponents are picking up our castoffs.  There should be some type of rule against this.

No it’s not

Browns are short rbs with hunt  suspended and McGuire was never as awful as people said he was

Yeah, I said in another thread that if they lose to the Jets, the carnival sideshow in Cleveland will be in full force. I'm pulling hard for the Jets, but not optimistic.

Hey, if they've activated McGuire, doesn't that mean that their RBs stink? Or, is he enlightening the Browns with his inside information about how Gase loves to throw to slot receivers?

If they lose to the Jets with a backup QB and no starting ILBs, that would be cause for some car-burning in the streets there.

Meh, up until the past month, when it became clear he wasn't making this team, McGuire was actually massively overrated around here.  He ripped off one long run two years ago the first time we really saw him, which is what got some excited, but did nothing of value after that.

There's a reason he was unsigned prior to this to begin with.  He's literally the Browns' #5 RB, and injuries/suspensions have caused that to be something they happen to need, but is right on par with his talent level as well.

True but we always knew he had a 69 yd run behind the worst oline in football so yes we thought wow, what could he do behind a decent line. Sadly the decent line never accumulated for him.

Every RB the Jets had the past 2 years did better than he did behind that same "worst oline in football", so that still doesn't really work as much of an excuse.  That included the likes of a 60-year old Matt Forte slowly plodding along for more yards.  So a better OL may have helped him, but it would've helped his teammates as well, still leaving him as the worst of the bunch.

Ultimately, he's a JAG, which isn't necessarily the worst thing for depth in the NFL, but the Browns' #5 RB is the very least of the Jets' concerns for tonight.
