I agree.  And I am not that worried that someone might claim him if we put him on waivers to get him through to the PS.  If they do, so be it.  He is at least another year away from being reaady to take meaningful NFL snaps.  No need to waste one of 53 roster spots on him.

Yup, he's hopefully a year away from competing for a backup spot.... which doesn't even mean he's a year away from definitely being a backup.  If we didn't care about age, draft positions, $$, etc. and strictly built a QB depth chart based on talent it would be Zach, J. Johnson, M. White, and J. Morgan in that order.  That's where they are today IMHO.

If Zuniga makes the roster over Rashed, it’s a joke. They could intend to IR Zuniga tomorrow and bring back Rashed but there’s no way we should keep Zuniga as a part of the 53.

Agree - though my guess is that's probably what they intend.

Lost his spot when we traded for Lawson

Think he was most directly hurt by the Lawson trade for sure. Huff, JFM, Blair firmly ahead of him.

Valid point. I don't agree with keeping Morgan for the contract situation, especially for the point you're mentioning. Btw, hope your IRL stuff is better, I know you mentioned you were going through some rough things.

Thanks, man!  Never be perfect, but things seem to be headed in the right direction.  <fingers crossed>

If Morgan goes to the practice squad, I would imagine he would be one of our 4 weekly "protected" players, meaning no one could poach him.

You have to have that emergency QB ready to go in case COVID hits Wilson and White.

Agreed, and as long as Josh Johnson is still a free agent, we would have an extra option.

This is starting to feel like a “developmental year “.    If they don’t bring in a legit MLB or backup QB then it’s pretty much certain the plan is to go young and turn ‘em loose and use the cap space and draft picks next year to round out the roster and make a run

You guys do realize that 3 of the OL and 3 2 WR that Morgan played with have been cut? White played with guys who will make it and was no way better than Morgan.

I thought White was more accurate than Morgan.  Limited number of snaps we had a chance to see, but I thought there was a difference between the two.

Jets seemed like the spot, but instead…
The #Browns are expected to sign veteran QB Nick Mullens to their practice squad after their 53-man roster is set later today, sources say. Mullens was recently released by the #Eagles.

Saleh and LaFlleur sawMullen’s sorry act  in SF up close and personal and wanted no part of him.

This is the guy we grabbed on waivers from Caroliina.  I sure hope we put him on the practice squad.  He put up some good tape.  He has power and decent feet.  Best of the backup guards this preseason imo.  I fully realize we cannot keep a Guard only rookie as a reserve if he is not ready.   I see real potential with this guy.  Unlike Tristan Hoge, who also impressed with his power blocking, David Moore shows the lateral agility to reset his feet when pass blocking.  Hoge really got exposed in his last preseason game.    While I wish him well, he belongs in a man scheme.  But Moore can play wide zone, he is just not ready.  Needs a year in the program.  Like Grant Hermanns.   With development time, he might be a starter.  Strong as a bull and he gets low.

I think Morgan had some really bad practices.  I don’t think White is vastly better, but I think they feel they can get Morgan onto the practice squad easier.  They could feel someone may take a shot at White if he were on waivers.

Morgan made throws on Friday that White could only dream about. I honestly think Saleh and LaFleur look at White and see Mullens.

He also did not throw into coverage.  White took what the defense gave him.  White simply is more polished.

In short, White is not green . . .      Wait just a minute . . . .

Based on the cuts so far, either the Jets believe Edoga can contribute in the interior o-line or JD has his eyes on another G/C who has (or will be) released.

I think in order to put a guy on short term IL he has to first be on the 53 man roster.   I think this may be the plan with Edoga.

That's literally always been the plan
