Anderson Smokes Kamara - 40 yards of gold

Recommended Posts

He better have not gotten f'ing injured.  That would suck and I'm sure not sit very well with this new staff.

Luckily, at least in the video, it didn't seem like he pulled up limp after his first race.

Maybe he felt a little tightness and decided to actually do the "smart" thing and withdraw.  He's got a hell of a lot more on the line this season than $1 million dollars.

Aren't these guys doing sprints during training? I don't get all the injury concerns.

Sprints in camp are glorified jogs.  Hammy strains are very common after timed 40's and can nag on all season.  One of the reasons players seldom run them ever again after the combine, and Pro day's.  In a contract year a hammy can cost a player BIG  money

40 Yards of Gold results: 49ers' Marquise Goodwin wins $1M competition

The NFL Scouting Combine always has been weird to me. I mean, think about it -- you’re glued to your television and phone screens watching dudes run and jump.

That's the entire event. And some of y'all love it.

Luckily for those lovers of the 40-yard dash, there’s now the "40 Yards of Gold" competition to get your fix when you're missing it.

The winner of Saturday’s event in Sunrise, Fla., took home $1 million, and guess who that winner was? Yep, 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, who was a U.S. Olympian in the long jump at the 2012 London Games.

Marquise Goodwin tops Donte Jackson by .05 seconds to win inaugural 40 Yards of Gold title. Absolutely electric. He wins the $1 million prize. pic.twitter.com/FPJWcGOGAO

The competition featured 16 of the most agile football players in the world with a bracket-like structure — eight offensive players and eight defensive players, including Goodwin’s 49ers teammate, Richie James. Oh, and the event was hosted by Chad Ochocinco.

Alvin Kamara, Ted Ginn Jr., and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie were some of the other participants, and a couple free agents such as Charles James II and Jacoby Ford also showed up, according to CBS Sports.

This might be something cool for most of you, but to be honest, I'm not that surprised Goodwin won. He recently was hanging out with a tiger and catching passes off an elephant. Him winning this competition was inevitable.

Robby Anderson won one race at “40 Yards of Gold,” and then stopped

Posted by Mike Florio on June 30, 2019, 5:00 PM EDT

Jets receiver Robby Anderson came, he saw, he conquered, and then he quit.

Anderson participated in one race at Saturday’s “40 Yards of Gold” competition, easily beating Saints running back Alvin Kamara. Anderson then stopped, three wins short of the $1 million prize.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Anderson didn’t injure himself. So it’s not clear why he decided not to continue.

The source speculated that Anderson possibly heard Jets coach Adam Gase in the back of Anderson’s head, vowing to kill Anderson if he got injured during the event.

It’s still surprising that coaches like Gase, Sean Payton, Mike Zimmer, and Kyle Shanahan didn’t intervene to stop their players from unnecessarily risking an injury so close to the start of camp. Maybe that’s why Ted Ginn didn’t show. And maybe that’s why Robby Anderson decided after only one heat that he didn’t want to push his luck.

Well that's good news. I thinking we hear a bit more on this one. There has to be some reason he stopped. The source speculation sounds good if it were to be true. Anderson thinking during the race "what the hell am I doing here?"  lol
