Becton Strong Year Continues

Recommended Posts

His size means teams will take a chance on him. He doesn't work hard in the offseason and he isn't a student of the game. Heck, looks like today didn't cause him a moment of self examination. If he thinks anyone is writing a big ass long term contract, he needs his head examined. He's Isiah Wilson with 2 more inches without the  BS rap career.

If you read this, Big Ticket, you're a joke. A wasted draft pick. If Douglas had any balls, he'd cut you before the bus gets to Miami Intl. Airport.

After the first injury, it’s been hard to trust this guy. Year after year, dude has been coming to training camp out of shape or injured. For some guys, injuries are  tough breaks but I’m convinced most of this guys injury history is due to the fact that he didn’t take the job seriously. If you can’t take care of yourself, you’re going to be more prone to injury. Isn’t it convenient  that the only year he’s healthy is a contract year? He’s been terrible to boot but there are enough red flags here that the jets should have ZERO interest in bringing him back. Let some other team deal with this guy.

Hes not been good this year sadly.  Sometimes these big guys that are a certain weight, end up losing weight and rather than suddenly becoming more nimble and less injury prone, simply lose the thing that made them successful in the first place (eg their strength).

We haven’t seen the pancakes and the dominant run blocking this year like we saw early in his career.  And while he hasn’t gotten hurt, he is still just as bad as he ever was against speed.

He is playing at backup level, which is obviously really disappointing.  I thought maybe it was all the rotation (starting at RT and moving to LT), but he’s been at LT next to Laken for awhile now, and things aren’t getting better.  So the worry now is that b/c of the knee, this is close to his ceiling.

It looks like becton is playing himself out of the nfl.  He’s made enough money to be set for life so why should he bother getting beat up each week.  It’s tough since the jets will need this oline to work next season and becton has the physical talent to be really good.  But it’s what’s between the ears that counts.

Oline has to be emphasized but even the top college draftee tackle will have a hard time being a starter out of the box.  If they do go first round tackle he’ll probably be slated to be right tackle.  They’ll get a left tackle in free agency.  On possibility is they’ll move AVT back to left guard.  Then maybe a rookie left tackle can start.
