Can Jalin Marshall surprise?

With Enunwa back, Kearse, the addition of Pryor, could J. Marshall step up & contibute? He made some mistakes but what rookie doesn't? Plus the guy was an undrafted free agent. I thought he made some nice plays in 2016, liked his open field maneuvering. Seeing how fast B.Marshall & Decker fell off a cliff, maybe J.Marshalls rookie game was a little more impressive than we thought.

One thing we do know is that he must have impressed in practice because he was given more opportunities even after making mistakes. As Jet fans we are all too quick to bury young players instantly. I mean some guys do develop, learn and succeed after slow starts in this league. The competition at WR is going to be pretty competitive. Kearse, Anderson, Enunwa, Pryor, Stewart, Hansen, Marshall, and a bunch more.

Be nice to get a few surprises from some of these 3rd & 2nd year players. Emergers I'll call them.

Very unlikely he makes the team. There is a lot more competition now, and he is behind at least 6 or 7 guys for a WR spot.

His best chance is to be the best combo KR/PR on the team. But there is a lot of competition there too.

Who?

Young UDFA that made some nice plays in 2016 & a few flubs. Maybe Bowles is doing his TOUGH LOVE thing with him. Many scouts thought he should have stayed in school in 2016 instead of coming out early. Some young guys do eventually mature.

We'll see. Hopefully I'm posting....that's WHO, a bunch of times next year!

at this point, I think Brandon Marshall has more of a chance to surprise than Jalin Marshall.

Then why did they hang onto to him after he was suspended? There are pictures of him working out in the offseason program. I mean the guy was an UDFA, I think if they were cutting him, it would have been last year, IMMEDIATELY after his 4 game suspension.

I think your wrong, I think the Jets brass still sees potential.

We could cut 5 of those players and replace with UFA no one would know the difference

Peake should be above him too imo

And Terrelle Pryor.  He will be behind him as well.  Little to no chance Jalin makes the team.

He should’ve been cut in 2016

No way in hell he makes the team.

I don’t see the Jets carrying more than 6 WR’s and guys like Anderson, Pryor, Kearse, Enunwa and Hansen are virtually guaranteed to be on the team barring a trade. The 6th spot probably goes to Andre Roberts or some other return specialist.

He seemed to have a knack for getting open...before he'd drop the ball

This. He actually got good separation. He just hated the way the balls felt in his hands. If only @JiF could coach him up on that.

No one is losing their job for Jalin Marshall. He’ll be cut very soon. That PED violation was the end of him as a Jet. UDFA’s have to be extremely good from the jump because their room for F-ing Up is zero to none.

Than why wasn't he cut after being suspended?

I wasn't being facetious, I had completely forgotten he was still on our roster at this point.

He is, at best, somewhere in the 7th to 10th best WR on this roster today.

Not really worth investing any hope in tbqh.  Guys like him rarely get that many chances.

For you to be posting "that's WHO!" a goodly number of materially better WR's in front of him would have to either materially disappoint, or get hurt.  Not sure I would root for that as a Jets fan personally.
