Scott Dierking
The Athletic's Connor Hughes considers impending free agent S Marcus Maye "highly unlikely" to be re-signed by the Jets. It sounds like it will be a mutual decision. Maye was slapped with the franchise tag last offseason, collecting $10.612 million for six games of action before suffering a torn Achilles' tendon. He also was arrested for DUI last offseason. Maye was borderline-great in 2020 but will now be a 29-year-old (in March) coming off a serious injury. He'll be signing elsewhere. Popular Post mrcoops
Not exactly a surprise. Overplayed his hand last offseason, his loudmouth agent burned a lot of bridges, Maye misled the team about his arrest, coming off a significant injury and not far off from turning 30. Thanks for your service, Marcus. Good luck landing that multi-year deal you want - I think you will need it.

Popular Post Embrace the Suck
An average safety at best. Just another guy that was often overrated by the fans because they've been starved on a desert island for so long now. Plus, he's getting football old. 5

Are you kidding me?!?! If we didn't have Maye, our defense would've been horrible! Like in the running for worst-defense-ever type horrible!

If someone impresses him in practice its all he can talk about, Carl Lawson would have been TJ Watt if he played this year 1
Ecuadorian Jet
I agree with everything said here, and that is exactly why I do not understand some posters "are ok" with the idea of bringing back an even older, also injured Lamarcus Joyner. It seems to be the stupidest idea ever. You know who you are.
shuler82
Since when does Connor Hughes have sauces? Spoiler: he doesn’t. but this is a reasonable prediction that anyone with at least one functioning ear and or eye could make.

Seem to have a better grasp of positional draft value & at the bare minimum, an iota of patience.

Hael
Why is it Jets fans never really value their good understated players (Maye, Berrios), yet tremendously overvalue highly questionable ones (Leonard Williams when he was here, Jamal Adams, Quinnen Williams). Maye has been one of the better safeties in the league for a long time now. No he’s not legion of boom good, but easily top ten. He was always inexpensive, and frankly one of the only bright spots on our team. Sad to see him go, his injury was a big turning point for our defense (before and after went from meh to catastrophic)
