Cosentino’s a smart guy, but that’s an excrutiatingly dumb piece. I’m completely on board with ripping the league and its labor relations system, but using that as justification to demand that the Jets take it upon themselves to single-handedly upend the way rookie contracts are negotiated is absurd.

If Darnold really wanted to be here he’d be here, take his guaranteed $30M+ and not let his agent wage a war to set a precedent that neither the QB before him (Mayfield) or after him (Allen) dug their heels in for! JMHO.

That article should be titled "What the hell is Sam Darnold thinking?"

Darnold has let a greedy agent get in the way of his professional life and created the perception that he's a "double dipper" with the offsets.  The kid needs to assert himself and remember that the agent is there to service the client, not the other way around.  Sexton is trying to create a perception for future draft prospects at the expense of his client's image.

Take the damn offset language that the other 3 QBs took, Sam.

Dig in, CAA don’t do offset language with top 3 picks period so either the Jets cave, or were looking at a Joey Bosa type hold out (who was also represented by CAA).

I'm very glad to see the majority of this board isn't blindly attacking Mac here....This is clearly on Darnold/Agent, we should NOT give in. 

He will eventually sign - it's not even like the Jets were planning to start him..the longer he's out the less likely he has a chance to start - and he knows that.

My guess is his agent was hoping the fans/media would blame the Jets - they're not.

Sexton is waiting for public pressure from the open practices this weekend.  Figures the holdout lasts at least until then, if not Tuesday when it is an off day.  If it goes longer than that, it is a real shame.

Yeah. Mac can't give in to this douche. The fact that Mayfield and Allen got it done, just shows you Sexton is being a total tool with Mac.

 But Darnold also needs to tell the agent, 'listen..if i'm not in by Monday, i'm moving on without you'.

Go quickly sign another QB or 2 for camp.  Can't have the old man and Teddy throwing all the routes in camp this summer.

Show Sam you're prepared to move on without him.

This. Both the #1 and #7 picks, each QBs, have offset language and I believe both are CAA clients like Darnold.

Maybe the Jets should push for something unorthodox too...like paying Sam’s bonus in 2021.
