Anyone thats talked with me knows I never pick an argument on here, its all futile, people dont know me and I dont know them so theres no need to get into anything personal. Aside from all the coaching clinics I attend and football coaching, I get a big part of my year round football fix from this site. I went a long time without it when JI shut down, then when I found this place and so many of the posters that I really enjoyed from there were here I was really happy to get into good strong NFL/JETS/Scouting debates and conversations. It's a different type of talking ball than all of the game planning and scheme discussion I do year round. NYJ1
Schefter is correct. It's simple deductive reasoning that the Jets are open to everything. If they were going all in with Sammy they would have said so. But that's not the case so that let's you know they're looking at everything. Honestly, I think they're looking at a potential trade package for Watson. They're seeing if after trading what it's going to take to acquire Deshaun Watson, can they still build a formidable team? What would they do in FA? If they've graduated past thinking they can get Watson, then they're looking at moving on with Sammy. Robert Saleh in particular is looking at this with lots of input from Joe Douglas. My hope at this point, because I don't there's any way Deshaun comes with a reasonable price tag, is that they go all in with Sammy, trade down out of 2, pick up a kings ransom, and draft a QB later on. You shouldn't give Sammy the job. Make him fight for it with a QB the Jets draft after 2.

I really think it's wild that Carson Wentz may get a first rounder. He's getting old. He gets injured yearly. His Hero ball just never improved- it got worse. His mechanics are just horrendous. He is not fixing these things close to 30 years old. I have a bad feeling Philly got caught bluffing this week. Hopefully I am wrong bc Wentz going for a 1 would be amazing for Sam Darnold.

chrisfaceoff
Was reading Conner’s latest on the athletic and one of their draft guys had a mock with a trade that I actually really liked and thought was fair. The Jets get SF 2nd round pick in 2022, SF gets Sam and then they swap 1sts moving the Jets to 12. In the mock we do not land Watson. we select Wilson at 2 and then with 12 we pick Slater. 1

What he says is, what I would think, completely logical and obvious. How so many people embrace this fantasy that Darnold will bloom into a franchise QB after what we've seen in his first three years is mind boggling. And that doesn't mean it couldn't happen. Yes, fantasies sometimes come true. But you don't prepare for an NFL season by banking on a fantasy. Darnold needs to go to a team that can afford to put him on the bench, work on his problems, and see what happens. He does not deserve to be a starting QB anywhere. 2
