The Jets kept 4 quarterbacks because after watching Hackenberg in camp, they didn't trust him enough to be the third-stringer. The Jets' dysfunction was picking this scrub in the first place.

True Hackenberg story from when he was at Penn St.  One of my son's friends was at Penn St.  Not sure what year this was for Hackenberg, I think junior year, but my son's friend (whom I believe) was at one of the popular bars in State College and he watched as Hackenberg tried to hit on a girl who refused his advances.  whatever went down in the conversation resulted in Hackenberg saying within earshot of others "you don't know who I am? Google me Bitch."

His head wasn’t in the game when he was drafted. I don’t think the jets did him any favors. I suspect gailey knew from the start hack couldn’t hack it.  He was another of of macs guys. Mac scouted him at penn state just like he scouted darnold.

Hackenberg is yet another perfect example of the disfunction of the Jets created by Woody Johnson.

Overdraft a badly broken QB, have literally zero plan in place to fix what is broken, and fail.

Wilson, Overdraft a very raw not NFL ready QB with physical tools and have zero plan or ability to develop him, throw him in when not ready and watch him fail.

Jets fans need to stop blaming the symptoms, and start blaming the real problem. The real problem is we hire completely inept FO and Coaching staffs, who do stupid things, and then we blame the player when it doesnt work out, and rinse and repeat, and nothing changes.

When Sean Payton is available, and you stick with Robert Saleh, or when Andy Reid is available, and you stick with Tod Bowles, the problem is way bigger than Christian Hackenberg or Zach Wilson.

I assure you Sean Payton does not have Hackenberg or Zach Wilson type failures, neither does Andy Reid.

I did not watch he video.  Hackenburg was an absolute bum of a QB, however if he talked about no opps he has a bit of a point Bowles being the awful coach he was refused to play him at all in a lost season with existing QB injures.

Funny thing, (or not so funny)  at this point Douglas is just about as bad at QB evaling as McCagnan was re the draft.  Not only does Wilson look like a terrible pick, Morgan was a disgustingly awful 4th round QB pick.

Macc was absolutely smitten by Hackenberg.  Maccagnan was the reason for that draft pick.  Not Woody.  Blame Tebow on Woody.  Blame Sanchez's stupid cap-busting extension on Woody.  But you can't blame him for Hackenberg, b/c t'was all Macc.  Nor  can you blame him for Geno (all Idzik).

It's painful to realize that Idzik's choice of Geno Smith was the best Jets QB choice (draft or FA) in a decade.

Hackenberg was the kind of prospect that a good organization would draft in the 6th round, and develop for a few years quietly into a serviceable backup / spot starter.

Of course we…a historically terrible organization with no track record of developing QBs into anything other than rehab, selected him in the 2nd round, looked at him, realized he wasn’t Dan Marino and said “uggghhh no thanks.”
