Jet Nut
Problem is the media likes loud mouths who draw attention to themselves, fall for it every time. Jamal isnt as good as King thinks. The list above is of players all of which make more of an impact than Jamal ever did. They just dont proclaim that theyre best in the nation or call themselves Prez

doitny
first off as previously mention by many here. Jamal wasn't worth 2 picks anyway. and second, if you want to be fair Kev or King or whoever, JD earliest draft has only played 1 1/2 years. at the same point in Jamal career we wouldn't get even one 1st rd pick for him. he really took off in year 3. we all know the 2020 draft wasnt so great. ok lets fire JD for that. no more chances right? cause the 2021 has some nice looking guys. yes its early, just like it was early every other week when we Judge these draft picks for better or for worst. so when comparing some of those nice looking but to early to tell 2021 picks keep in mind that after Jamals first 10 games...hell his 1st season he looked about as ok as they do.
jgb
Pathetically it can both be true that Jamal was the best Jets draft pick in 5 years but that he is also a drastically over-rated team-killer.

Certainly Jamal’s first couple years. Guy was fun to watch. But the way he is playing now? Any of those players could turn into a better player by then. nickfoshizal
Well first of all Jamal is ass and has always been ass, so yes shockingly we have if you base it on actual talent and not name recognition/ a few undeserved all pros. Avt is a better guard than Jamal a safety, I’ll take Mike Carter at rb over Jamal at safety, Becton when healthy is a better LT than Jamal a safety, and they both only show up for a game or two a year anyways regardless of how healthy Jamal is. Now should we actually compare Macc and Jds first two drafts cuz Jamal wasn’t selected until maccs third anyways. I’m 99.9% sure about JD being trash at this point, but come on we gave macc enough time to throw sh*t at the wall so people can make stupid threads like this, if we fire jd now after giving him a “6 year” deal, no one will ever in the history of this godforsaken planet risk taking this job ever again. The only way this team can possibly be fixed in a short span would be signing multiple young free agents that outperform their contracts, sprinkled with a few hard nosed vets to show the kids how it’s done. Actually make a good enough foundation that we can at least develop our draft picks, which isn’t hard and shouldn’t take very long. Instead of just throwing rookies into the fire and saying “this is gonna become a core one day.” 1

Just to add my 2 cents to your thought, when you are drafting #6 pick of the first round, a safety should never be the pick. Cornerback, QB, offensive tackle, game changing wide receiver, elite pass rusher, should all be positions ahead of safety. To add to that, while Jamal was a solid player, he doesn't help with in a significant way to turnovers, which would add to his value. The fact is that Seattle is having buyers remorse, and that just adds to the fact that Peter King is a "blow hard".

He almost never goes down after first contact, he can catch out of the backfield, no complaints about his vision, he’s got this MJD level of gravity being smaller that makes for good balance as a ball carrier, he keeps his legs moving. I like the kid. Every down back. Also just because Hall or MC2 don’t have any INT’s doesn’t mean they aren’t doing their jobs well. “Strictly manning the slot for the Jets this season (Carter II has played outside cornerback on only two of his 426 defensive snaps), Carter II has been frequently challenged by opponents but is doing a good job of answering the call and preventing big plays. Giving up 319 yards on 31 completions, Carter II has allowed 10.3 yards per reception this season, which ranks at the 76th percentile among qualified cornerbacks. Only 14 of the 31 passes completed against Carter II’s coverage went for a conversion (first down or touchdown). That is a rate of 45.2%, which is strong. For reference, 53.7% of all passes completed league-wide this season have gone for a conversion.“ “Run defense has also been a positive for Carter II. He is one of the only players on the team who is consistently executing his role against the run. “Carter II is tied for eighth among cornerbacks with five run stops (tackles on plays that constitute a poor result for the offense) and ranks fifth with 15 total tackles against the run.” “When you re-watch the Jets’ run defense in search of culprits for missed opportunities, do not expect to see Carter II often. He has only missed one tackle against the run this season. That gives him a missed tackle rate of 6.3% as a run defender, which is sixth-best out of the 25 cornerbacks with at least 10 total tackles against the run.” “Carter II has four pass breakups, three tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, and a quarterback hit. The Jets have used him fairly often as a blitzer: he is tied for seventh among cornerbacks with 19 pass-rush snaps and has produced three pressures.” There isn’t much going right for the Jets’ defense right now, but fans should at least feel confident that their team has found its long-term slot cornerback.” https://jetsxfactor.com/2021/11/18/michael-carter-rapid-ascension-ny-jets/

Popular Post Sonny Werblin
I've got to say, I find this to be an absolutely absurd proposition. JD has had 2 drafts. The players drafted in the second draft have played half a season. And the measure by which you would evaluate JD is whether in his 2 drafts he has landed a foundational player! So, every 2 drafts a GM must land a foundational player, or he is a failure? This is the height of stupidity. And I haven't even discussed what in the holy F#ck do they mean by foundational player? Is the standard Jamal Adams? He is a one dimensional safety. Can that seriously be the measure? BTW, after half a season, AVT does appear to be a "foundational player", by any definition of that term. 7

The thesis behind the hate for Jamal Adams and the draft pick used on Adams is that the value of a safety, especially one that isn't good in coverage and gets zero INTs is that no matter how good he plays, he isn't worth a top 10 pick. It's why he dropped to us in the first place. It's also why interior DL like Leonard Williams fell to us and why Quinnen fell to us also. These are really good players, but they will never be as valuable as an edge rusher, WR or CB. So I would much rather have Becton, AVT and Wilson over Jamal Adams (even if there all the same age). In fact, I wouldn't even consider trading Elijah Moore for Adams.

varjet
JD is responsible for building this football team. As such, he said he was going to build in the trenches, which was the right thing to say. He has had two full off seasons. The trenches are still not completely built, and that has directly affected the Jets’ play. In addition, on offense he needs a QB and WRs, who usually take a year or so to develop. His draft picks have been a random assortment of players, too many of whom look like busts. The RBs, S, etc. could have been signed off the street. At this point his lines should be solid. Two years in the Buffalo lines were solid. This appears to be the Mac approach of trying to hit on individual picks rather than building a team. The Ravens and Eagles did attempt to this right, so you wonder if the problem is JD or the Jets. The GM also has to put in place the right coaching. I think that is also up in the air. In the end, I wonder how much different these people are, and what the Jets accomplish by blowing the thing up. But you also don’t want to stay with a losing proposition too long. Although I think the coaching can get upgraded in spots, I think the biggest problem is the talent, particularly on defense. Something needs to change here. I would bring in Scot M from retirement and see if he can help JD make his draft picks this offseason. The minimum weight for a 1-3 round draft pick should be 240 pounds.

Morgan - Bust ( hes just bad) Perine - Bust (not good, just a rotational piece) Clark - Bust (cant stay on the field, was not good in his rare appearances) Hall- Looks like a decent start. Not one INT for the year though. Mann - Average Punter (not sure why you drain a pick on a punter) Wilson - Stinks right now. We have no idea how this story ends. Def was not ready for the NFL, this is not debatable. AVT - Looks good. Nice pick Moore - Coming on BUT hes not a Chase or a real game changer yet. Gotta see more Carter - Rotational guy. Hes alright. Sherwood - Bust, complete trash. Carter 2- Decent, not one INT yet. Pinock - Just another guy' Nas - Bust, another guy who stinks Echols - Ehhh, i dont know yet You aren't going to win championships let alone divisions drafting this way and gutting all veteran talent. This is the most dysfunctional rebuild in the history of time. Marshall - Who the **** is that? Even in this ridiculous thread, this post stands out as ridiculous. It makes sense to question Douglas.
