Raiders would eat $8 mil this year, $24mm next year. Acquiring team cap hits are ~$7 mil this season, ~$20 mil next season. Raiders would have room to eat those hits because they’d be starting a rookie next year. That said, the Jets would have to grease the Raiders to make it worth their while. X-factor is timing of Adams shooting his way out of there and if the Raiders let him pick his destination

Apparently, Jimmy G has been paid no money yet from the Raiders. What was originally listed as an $11M signing bonus and $11M salary has been converted completely into salary; a salary he won’t receive until he can pass said physical.

I know there are folks here who preferred him to Rodgers due to cost and/or age, but the contract has been designed to protect the Raiders in case he’s unable to pass a physical in time to play.

Crazy stuff outlined at the end of the article. Even they had serious concerns even if he gets cleared that it would come without lingering effects of last year's injury, and in that case they would - or anyway, could -  just say, "Nope, you're not worth a $22MM risk."

He won’t get any of it until he passes a physical. In the interim, the Raiders can cut him “for any reason related” to Addendum G.

The elimination of the signing bonus and the presence of Addendum G explains the delay in getting the deal done. And it underscores the possibility that Garoppolo might never play for the Raiders — and he might never get paid a penny by them.

Crazy stuff -- anyway this isn't the QB1 a team acquires when it feels it's in position to take advantage of a window of opportunity. Also injury aside, it's hard to ignore the way his prior team threw all those picks to trade up for a fingers-crossed prospect instead of using those picks to keep building around JG; never mind how much better the offense was after he was injured in favor of a Mr. Irrelevant pick rookie.

Tom Brady starts week one. Book it.

It’s not an implausible prediction.  As I said in another thread, this is the same scam the Dolphins were  trying to pull off last year - let Brady buy a piece of the team, void the rights held by his previous team, and magically play for your new team with no compensation

Right, and the fact that he signed such a contract suggests he didn’t have any better offers.

There are some obstacles that do make it implausible, if not impossible.

The major one is that every one of the NFL owners would have to approve him playing while he has an ownership stake in a team.  All 32...including the teams in LV's division.  Beyond that, which is certainly a brick wall, it would open the door to superstar players demanding minority stakes in teams as an inducement to sign, and that is a line the owners will not want to risk crossing, no matter how far-fetched it might seem today.

So in order to play for them, he would almost certainly have to sell back his stake in the team.

How much cap space would Adams take up in relation to Hopkins provided we could aquire either if we wanted?

Assuming Corey Davis is cut probably another 6-10 million that they don’t have.  Ashtyn Davis Will probably get the summer to prove himself or he could get cut but that would be to free up space going into the season most likely.

Jimmy G was the perfect QB to bring for this. Guy who play good but can’t take more than 50-50% of the snaps in the season. This some Patriot level cabal shit  here, kind of impressive in a scumbaggery master class kind of way.
