Today sucks so far, but on the bright side there's nothing more entertaining than an old fashioned Jets Nation message board meltdown.

With so much uncertainty in the world right now, it’s nice to have a bit or normalcy I suppose.

With Thuney and Linsley off the market, Jets are likely to hang tight with what they have, add a veteran or 2 on cheap deals, and look to build through the draft. Jets weren’t finalists for either. Unwilling to go beyond 4 years and had lower valuations specifically on Linsley ($10m apy).

Disappointing. Gonna be another poor season.

Stage I [Jets fail to spend $200 million in the first six hours of free agency; JN blows out its collective diaper]: COMPLETE

Stage II [Jets sign a bunch of second- and third-tier FAs; JN begins cautiously masturbating to the idea that these guys are “a better fit schematically” and “excellent value”]: PENDING

STAGE III [Jets go 4-12]: PENDING

We didn’t really want the top guys, after all the reports we were high on the top guys dating back months Smfh

So you don't want the Jets to overpay for players but want them to sign here.... why else would they sign with the Jets unless you massively, massively overpay? To live in Bayonne?

If the money is basically even, the player will go to the contending team.

The Jets are not contending, which means they have to significantly over pay to sign a FA.

“You don’t win free agency by paying big money to a few guys. Smart teams buy from the bargain bin for guys like Oday Aboushi or Spencer Long.”

Can the Jets significantly over pay for a position that matters for once?

Sam Darnold is going to start his own rumors that he's being traded just to hope somebody makes an offer and rescues him.

True. Sam is really eager to be one step closer to being out of the league and retired by his 26th birthday.

JetNation melts down more often than the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.

Or, Sam Darnold is a huge part of the reason we're a terrible destination for FA, and need to pay well more than many other teams to attract players.

That's not what those picks were supposed to be used for though.

The goal was to get IOL and Edge rusher help in FA.  This draft is for a QB (potentially), WR, CB and RT.

With a ton of money and several FA players matching some of the Jets biggest needs the Jets really had to land Thuney or Linsley.

The funny thing is how analysts this morning were panning the Baltimore signing of Zeigler.  They thought the Ravens overpaid for a Tier 2 free agent.  It turns out Baltimore knew the market, knew guys like Thuney would be dramatically overpaid, and they landed a good OG for a moderate price.

RT is not a need, but I agree with you on WR and CB - I always felt a guard/and or center would be top priority too. We have a bunch of picks.

Which high level lineman or receiver wouldn't want to play for the lowest rated passer in the league who has a tendency to break his own pocket and sack himself?

And honestly, I'm not even blaming Darnold 100% here.

Yes, he's terrible and no one who has a choice would want to play for him.

But, Jets are in a terrible spot, and if attracting top FA's was the goal, uncertainty at the QB position isn't ever a draw.
