I’m really tired of this narrative “this year isn’t about winning”

Its literally every year I hear this from the fan base. Like you think Saleh wants to lose? You think JD wants the 3rd season under his belt to be a third losing season? You think the players want to lose? The Johnsons?

They don’t play this game to “develop” they plan to win. Stop with that jaded fan Nonsense.

Trust me, I agree with everything you just said, with one caveat.
Of course Saleh wants to win I just feel he and JD are looking long term right now. Naturally, the players feel differently, and he doesn’t want them to feel any other way.

I’ll go back and look at my post again… I wasn’t trying to infer I was okay with us giving up on the season.

What I was trying to say was it became obvious to me THEY were when they didn’t bring in a veteran QB.

Once I realized what I think they’re doing, I adjusted my expectations to those I expressed in my post.

Again, I don’t like “it” but there isn’t much I can do about it, right?

yeah this is all true. I mean its easy to go nuclear and worry that is all going to crash an dburn but remember this kid is a rook and expected. But good coaching and gameplan can protect a young qb and allow him to grow - herbert burrow etc...not to say we know one wayy or the other - the thing is nothing that is happening should make you think wilson is toast. Nothing to say is he the best ever either - but we are not expecting that.

This system is going to be great for wilson and we are going to win some games this year!

Yes...

The fact that people here are NFL fans and still don't understand that rookie QB's are going to look like sh*t.  Particularly in their first few weeks of practice and then first few games.  The learning curve is massive.

This should all be expected --- Frankly, I think I would be worried if he wasn't have trouble. Wilson is going to be fine - just gotta stick with him.

That must be refreshing for the vets who want to win games to hear.

Sick of punting away seasons to “evaluate” young QBs.

So let's punt away a season with a mediocre Vet while the young QB loses valuable reps.

Lawrence, Fields, Lance, and Jones are lighting it up. Heck look at how well Danny Jones played his first preseason.

Herbert, Baker, and Watson were all stars after their first year.

The learning curve for a rookie HC and OC is massive.  The AFC east has 3 of the best HC in the NFL.  Zach is going to be going against 3 HC who will be very focussed on making things very hard for him to figure out.  Lefluer is also going to get a trial by fire.

False! They also are getting 2nd team snaps vs. 2nd team Def.

Daniel Jones 1st season was sitting behind Eli knucklehead

Fortunately our fist game against Panthers has no one on the roster remotely close to Lawson! Zach should have time to throw. Frankie Luuvu might be their best alternative

Brian Burns is no slouch and probably is as good a rusher as Lawson. He’ll be a good test for Becton.

Looking at our schedule, Burns is probably going to be the guy who gives Becton the most problem or second most problems behind Shaq Barrett.

Nobody is lighting anything up as they haven't played a game yet.

Can we please at least wait to see a singular game?

The team went 2-14 last year and hasn’t made the playoffs since 2010. The offense looking like ass and running a camp without hitting is concerning, that’s all.

The Buccaneers aren't "hitting" more than the Jets or any other team.

Because the NFL doesn't allow it...

My only observation from practice, besides Zach looking  like he’s doing new install (I hope that’s it) ……

Amazing how many people have Bless Austin on the bubble.  I can almost  guarantee that guy is a starter opening day

Corner is going to be a strength of this team.  We have a legit 1 in hall, Austin is coming around nicely and will be a high end cb2 and guidry has the slot locked down.  And a bunch of young kids behind them ready to step up.

Love the cb unit.

Brian Burns???

You don't know who Brian Burns is? I do. Because I'm an FSU fan and @JiFapono is correct. He's a freak.

2019 Rookie = 7.5 sacks.

2020 2nd year = 9.0 sacks.

He's a better pass rusher than anyone on your Buffalo defense (including your overrated Miami U Rookie who Michael Carter ran all over for 300+ rushing yards).

Zach Wilson with multiple TD throws and 0 "practice" INTs.

Where oh where are all of the Zach Wilson is a "practice INT machine" @ today?

He wasn't accurate enough to get the ball in the vicinity of the WR that the DB's were covering.  That's a big red flag.

Ugh, it's everything we talked about, kid looks like he could kill it in flag Football.  lol

No, I'm kidding, I totally understand the practicing patience piece and clearly you have to, especially for a project like Wilson.  That part of this that is frustrating though, is how we had to listen to an entire offseason of why he was actually better then Trevor Lawrence and wayyyyy better then the other guys (looks around for Chris Simms).  And that's all fine and great until you tell me he cant handle 11 on 11.

And I know there is nothing else Saleh can say but plenty of rookies in recent years have hit the ground running.  We've seen the rookie TD record broken twice in the last 3 years.  We've seen guys like Russ, Murray, Watson, Burrow, Jackson, Winston, etc. all come in and play well for week 1.  I know it's early but the excuse making coming out already has me a bit frustrated.  We were sold that what we're getting with Wilson is a Day 1 starter, high level acumen, student of the game, film junky who will galvanize the team with his leadership and ability and instead, I'm hearing Mike White looks like the best QB out there.

Beating the Rams was one of the dumbest things this franchise has ever done.
