Berrios Play in the Endzone - Drop or Bad Pass?

It was a catchable pass. Should have been caught even though it was a tough one to make. That play wa the epitome of the game today. Just not quite good enough.

Are you saying Berrios has to make a tough catch, but White doesn't have to throw a good pass?

Yes.

You're not allowed to question Mike White around here.

You can compliment him, you can say he had a good game, you can say he deserves to be the starter..

But then god forbid you point out anything negative about him - then you're a troll.  Definitely strange time here.

There are a lot of reasons the Jets lost today - but Mike White is also on the list.

Give it a rest.  This is not about Mike White.  If that were Mims there is no doubt you would be saying he has to catch that ball.  The bottom line is Berrios dropped a ball he should have caught.  Was it a tough catch?  Yes but that is what receivers get paid to do.  Should we have even been going to Berrios in that situation?  That is whole different question.    If you are a starting NFL receiver, in that situation, you HAVE to make that catch, period.

Mike White gave us a chance to win the game today, but he also threw at least 5-7 passes behind his receivers today. The only balls that were perfect were the ones that were thrown out in the flats that he laid perfectly in there and in stride. Berrios throw was a bit behind him, but he also needs to make that catch. PERIOD...

Looked like a drop to me. I’ve seen multiple posts stating that it was a bad pass. What do you guys think now that the game is over?

Imperfect but catchable pass.   You can give him a free pass if this is HS level football.  In the NFL and in that spot, you gotta make that catch.  Have to.

Yup.  Throw could have been a little bit better.  But he is an NFL wide receiver, who got both hands on the ball for what would have been a TD to give his team a lead with 90 seconds left.  Berrios has to make that catch.

Not the best pass but the defender never got a hand to the ball or to the receivers hands. Should’ve been caught.

2nd and goal at the 1, you qb sneak it 3 times. You don’t lose any yardage and one of the 3 plays will get you a good push. A push back really doesn’t mean negative yards with forward progress. Thats where we missed a beat. Left too many points on the ground. Too many FGs obviously.

With Zach, we lose this 41-9. No chance Zach completes half those throws. Mike White make some crazy throws but wasn’t perfect. Did just enough to be able to beat the 2nd best team in the league.

White took care of his half of the equation.  He gave Berrios a chance.  Berrios dropped it.

White had 2 drives inside the red zone and failed to score.  Berrios is a scapegoat.  Mike is just an average backup QB who has been performing well, and that's about it.  He is what he is.  Not good enough to take this team to the next level.

it was a little bit behind but it was thrown low on purpose, berrios should make that catch in his sleep

Why are you and the Mike White posse focusing on that one play?  Is that all you got?   White had 2 drives in the red zone and failed to score.  He didn't win the game for us - not with his feet - not with his arm.  And that's what 'money' QB's do.  He's merely a viable backup QB.  Snap out of it.

The pass looked like the only place it could have been put to be completed.   Berrios had it, so drop I guess, but it would have been a great catch.   I can't kill him for not coming up with it.

The defender may have gotten a hand on the ball which broke Berrios concentration, but he needs to catch that pass, no excuses. I also think they should of ran the ball 4 straight plays down there or play action with an easy dink pass to a TE. Just look at how difficult that play is from start to finish. ML has to better than that, you need perfect execution there to score on that play.

This....three trips down there late including the drive White scored his TD on and didn't try a play action or a roll out once.   those two drives were way too difficult to score on.

Pass could have been better but MW was on the move and under duress

Ball was in traffic but it hit Berrios in the hands and wasn’t touched by a defender

and Berrios was on the move sliding 1 way with the ball thrown behind him and a DB draped all over him... aka under duress.

MW still put it on Berrios’ hands

He has to catch it

But it should never have come down to that

You run the ball 2x there if you have to on 3rd and goal and 4th and goal from 1 and go home a winner
