For a second round pick, why the **** not? We have to pay somebody at some point and elite pass rushers are worth it.

If Joe Douglas trades a 2, he’ll have essentially replaced (arguably improved upon) Jamal Adams coverage ability with McDougald and doubled his sack numbers with Ngakoue.... all while collecting 2 first round picks

I love picks but you gotta give something to get something. People expect to get this good (not great) pass rusher for what? 4th rounder lol?

God Bless JD!

A couple people mentioned that we can't negotiate a new contract with him - why is that?

The thing is, Ngakoue is a good pass rusher, but can't play the run and seems to get his sacks against poor OTs as opposed to doing well across the board.  8 sacks is good, and as Jet fans that is essentially elite compared to what we've had in the recent past, but its not that great.  He finished tied for 33rd with Jordan Jenkins and Vic Beasley both of whom signed one year deals.  In 2018 he also had 8 sacks and had 12 in 2017.

Hes still a good edge rusher and likely worth acquiring for a second round pick, but to also pay him $15+ per year is a lot.  Hes not Kahil Mack.

He’s a 25 year old who gets sacks on a consistent basis every year. Jets don’t have anything like that. Trade for him and give him a contract

Deadline to sign to multiple year contract is July 15th...anything after, they play for the 1 yr deal. Traded or not.

He was franchise tagged, and the deadline for signing multi-year deals with tagged players passed about a month ago.

He'll be on a 1-year deal for whatever team he plays on this year and, by league rule, can't be extended until the start of the 2021 league year.
