Gillette is such a better place . They thought things out in ways -bars, restaurants, hotels on site-Jets, Giants and NJSEA did not. It’s a destination in Massholia even if thee is not a game . MetLife by contrast is sheet in every way .

I have friends and family up there and the HATE Gillette...parking is ridiculous they say and a lot of times you have to walk miles from your car and still pay 100.00 or some sh*t..(quite honestly i may have my facts wrong cause whenever they complain I secretly snicker while putting on a face of genuine concern)

I’ve been to MetLife once and Gillette 3x now (all jets vs pats) .. sadly I agree, Gillette is a pretty cool experience and MetLife is just bleh. However considering how young I was for each of those experiences, the 1 thing I enjoyed most about MetLife was finally not being harassed by intoxicated morons, but instead welcomed by them.

When you move to MA complaining becomes second nature, but parking at Gillette does indeed suck if you arrive too late.

No place is cheap, and parking sucks everywhere on game day.

Paid $20 bucks to walk at least 15 minutes to see Braves/Marlins a few weeks ago. Their manufactured downtown there is pretty good as manufactured downtowns go though.

and put it where? stock market? LOL - nothing is as guaranteed as a football franchise...

Besides, i am sure he has a big stack of cash anyway; he has been making money hand over fist for a long time.

You may think there is blood in the streets today, but this winter there will be real blood in the streets and there will be huge opportunities for people who are already cash rich to become more rich.

I have no idea if this is what Woody is thinking about but he probably isn't sitting on billions in cash today. Billions in assets, sure - but how liquid? I think selling the team would give him that if it's what he desires - assuming when you sell a sports team you actually get cash. It's been a while since I sold one.

As always, Francesa is full of himself, but I fervently hope that he is correct in this instance.  I have previously stated on 2 other forums that inept ownership is the cause of the Jets’ ineptitude.  Now it’s 3 forums.

Tannenbaum, seems to be a very nice guy, but he knows nothing about football.  He was a capologist who never should have been given the opportunity to make personnel decisions. See my comment above about ownership.

Back to Woody:  He is a classic jock sniffer.  He greets all of the players after the games as they get near the locker room.  He is in the war room during the draft, acting like the nerdy rich kid of the world.  In sum, he is overly involved.  I do give him credit for providing excellent facilities for the players.   Other than that, he absolutely sickens me.

People can't comprehend the difference between a million and a billion

A stack of a million dollars in hundreds goes up to your waist. A billion dollars would be higher than 8 Empire State buildings.

Now image having multiple people on the planet who are artificially worth hundreds of billions?  Kinda F'd up if you ask me.

Shane I will buy the team. I have an 800 credit score I will then make you my GM and I will be the Meddling owner. Certainly we can make enough per month to pay off the 5 billion dollar note Ill put like 100 k down as a  good faith measure and we're off to the races.

No one wants to believe there’s truth to this more than me, but Woody was just named as a Stephen Ross’s replacement on the NFL finance committee, so I’m guessing that a sale is not imminent.

Quote

Jets owner Woody Johnson replaces Ross on the finance committee. (Ross, by the way, tried to buy the Jets when Johnson purchased the team.)

Interesting stuff because Francesa hobnobs with the extremely monied class. 35 minute mark.

Bonus: Him and Tannenbaum think Saleh is on a doomed path.

That is interesting maybe the Mets owner will expand his empire.  :)  Would love an ownership change.

Got old time bookies completely wrong. They don't care what you bet on, all they care about is/was tryng to get equal action on the proposition. My client didn't even give a sheet about sports, though he loved going to casinos. Wasn't a guy in a suit, was  guys in a room somewhere in  sweatshirts with a mess of cell phones and some ledger books, or later, a laptop. And also, above all, you would pay if you lost. In age age of cell phone apps, doubt there are many left.

Mike from the looks of those choppers did have a great dental plan though.

We need public stances on MetLife stadium from all applicants. Opt out season is approaching

Is there really a plausible option? An alternative site? Do the Giants have an opt out? Not crazy to think neither team is happy with this.

The American Mall is now open and huge post COVID. Took the grandkids there; it's very nice. And it's basically a no go 16 times , and much of that during Christmas shopping season.

1. Put the 100k in Crypto. A safe and diversified portfolio of 25% each:  Bitcoin, ETH, DOGE and Shiba. Do this tonight.

2. Wait one month.

3. Pay cash for the team

4. Definitely hire Shane as the GM.

5. I want to be hired as the head t-shirt cannon guy

Thanks. I will hang up now and listen to your answer on the air.

You are the Head T-Shirt cannon guy @Maxman, @The Crusher is in charge of all concession stands.... @FidelioJet Zach Wilsons personal QB coach and trainer, @ZachEY Sports psychologist, more to come

It's a lot, but maybe yes maybe no. Depends how much of it he's leveraged towards other investments.

The best part about owning something tangible that's worth billions is he doesn't actually have to sell it to access more $ than he can spend. Especially with all these years of lower interest rates it seems unlikely that he's merely cashed out annual team profit & never borrowed against his equity in the team's value.

Staying as owner he's able to cash in at a few % interest, only in amounts he wants/needs at a given time, while his asset appreciates at a greater rate than that loan rate. He does better that way instead of selling for a giant tax bill off the top. That is, unless the team's value is likely to soon plummet & he missed his opportunity.

Also if he cashes in now then tax has to be paid on that profit twice: once for capital gains and then again later in estate taxes when he croaks. If he just holds onto it until death then his heirs only have to pay the latter. Maybe not even that, if there's another 1-year furlough on the estate tax like in 2010 and his kids use that opportunity to give him the Steinbrenner treatment. Allegedly. Didn't I say allegedly? Allegedly.

If there are any CFPs among us I'll humbly accept a correction if I have this wrong. On the $ implications, not on the Steinbrenners.

I may be wrong but does the NFL have the legal ability to stop owners from using a franchise as loan collateral or at the very least halt them from over leveraging with high LTV borrowing?

LOL - sorry, but the rich stay rich by being smart with their money. Unless he has perfected cold fusion, car batteries, or whatever, there is no better place for his money than an investment that generates consistent and virtually guarantee cash at about 10% rate while allowing his asset to grow.

You realize that every time the salary cap goes up it is because the shared revenue (money he gets for 'free') goes up. The team becomes more valuable every year as well.

Yep, he should sell to put his money in the bank, or the stock market, or to build space ships.... BTW, the amount of cash he takes out every year is more than enough to invest in whatever endeavor he wants.
