Clowney wants to play for Jets!

Recommended Posts

If we have the cap room this year, I see absolutely no harm in bringing him in.  If games are played, and he shows he can still be disruptive to the opposing team (as opposed to Jamal who was disruptive to his own team), then we can extend him.  Honestly, with no need to trade picks, why wouldn't we take a long look?

That'd be alright but he's looking for a large payday.

I don't see anyone doing that right now.

No one even knows what the cap will be, and he couldn't get one for all of free agency.  I want 15 million a year for my job too, but if no one is willing to pay it I am S.O.L.

Not sure about this.  Clowney would undoubtedly improve the D and the pass rush, but we all know Joe D doesn't just throw money around.  My guess is a Jets offer would be less than what others have already offered Jadaveon.

With that said, I wouldn't have a problem paying the market rate for a 1 or 2 year deal because current year Cap $$$ are less valuable than future Draft picks IMO.  By this I mean that I wouldn't trade Draft capital for someone like Clowney (although I might for Ngakoue), but I would pay free agent money.  Unless we have some other plans for that money, and keeping in mind that we will not be paying Jamal Adams but DO have to plan for an eventual Darnold extension, I think a 1-2 year deal is palatable.
