Embrace the Suck
I like not overpaying for anything, but a sure thing. Robby had too many red flags on and off the field. Good luck Robby. 4

Either Douglas is betting on nailing every pick of the draft or he is straight up planning on tanking next season. Yeah that's what replacing Robby does, takes us into a deep tank for Lawrence. Because we not only let Jerry Rice go we need a QB too. No OL and corners? Have you been paying attention 2

If a good O lineman he likes falls he'll take a lineman. If it's a Wr he'll draft one of them.

He's a good #2 or a great #3, who wanted to be paid like a star. Sorry we lost him, but we move on - hopefully with a FA like Perriman and a high draft pick at the position. Robby isn't worth 20 million. Quite the 1 trick pony. I just hate that we may have to Draft Jeudy/Lamb now at 11. I wanted that stud LT instead. 1

If we’re going to be stingy about 1 or 2 million, Douglas better have a back up plan...something like signing Perriman and trading for another receiver. 1

CTJetsFan
Not happy about this. That was not a ridiculous contract to match. I would call it "fair market value". Robby was the only skill position player that Sam had a good rapport with because he'd been there for his 2 years (Herndon too but out a lot due to injury/suspension). This LT or WR at #11 in the draft thing just got more serious. 1

I don’t understand why some people are freaking out over this. This just makes it more likely that we take someone like Jeudy, Lamb or Ruggs at #11 and give Darnold a legitimate go-to weapon in the passing game for the next decade. I also fully expect Douglas to bring in someone like Perriman or Sharpe (maybe both) in the meantime.

BroadwayRay
I don't think this means JD is going to trade for a receiver. I do think it means he definitely signs a free agent WR, whether it be Perriman, Funchess or whoever. It also increases the chances he goes WR with the top pick. I don't see how JD can look at the state of the offensive skill positions and not consider doing that.
