There are hospice care workers will tell you that every single time they are working with someone who is close to passing, their patients will see family members who have previously passed in the days leading up to their own passing; some they don't even recognize because they never met, but it's clear that they are an ancestor of some sort too. And each time that has given people peace, not anxiety, as those predecessors are greeting them lovingly and welcomingly. Maybe that can be rationalized as the brain trying to help us come to peace with our mortality, but I choose to see it as a reason for hope in some form of a peaceful afterlife.
