Lurker89
Rofl .... Look I liked Darnold the person... But I'm not crying over losing Darnold the player .... I've gotten Sanchez vibes from him since the moment his first throw was a pick. What I'm really enjoying is being a psychic vampire and drinking all the Darnold homers delicious tears. 1 1

Popular Post Integrity28
Typical Jets, reset button every few years. Good for Sam. He's still got plenty of football ahead of him, he's young, and I wish him the best. He was a fun kid to root football. I glad I got to see him play one of his best games as a pro, in person. I think JD had to make the move now. With the rumblings that he and the coaches are split, it's better to just end the speculation. I like the idea of restarting the rookie contract window. The return is meh, but the upside is this - scouting this year was negatively impacted by covid. Next year, it'll be a more normal process. I don't mind getting next year's picks. I'm not sold on Zach Wilson, tbh. Oh well. 6

ganggreen305
Had to be done. Wilson or Fields is an upgrade. I like Sam but as my neighbor, not my QB.
Wonderboy
WOW a 6th rounder this year and a 2nd and 4th next year. Not bad considering JD's window for trading him was closing in. Broncos, no thanks, 49er's no thanks, Bears no thanks, Washington no thanks. Pretty much every team that was in the market for a QB bypassed Darnold. Best I thought we could get was a 3rd rounder after all the moves had been made. This is a good deal for the Jets.
FidelioJet
This was always going to be the case, just a matter of to who and how much. I like what they got.. Next year, 2 ones, 2 twos and we got our 4th back.... 3
Popular Post mrcoops
Not a bad deal. Getting 3 picks is pretty solid value. I would have liked a higher pick this year, but getting a 2 and a 4 next year is good business. A decent trade for all concerned - Darnold gets the fresh start he needs, the Panthers get a young QB with talent for a fair price, the Jets get to start again with a QB at 2 and add some valuable picks for the rebuild. Sad to see Sam go, because I always had high hopes for him, he does have a lot of talent, and he is a good guy and a team guy. But it's the best move for everyone. Now, let's hope that Wilson really is as good as the pundits suggest. 5

munchmemory
How much sculpting clay or marble would I need for a statue of JD? After the deal he pulled off trading Darnold, I might fly to Carrara and pick through one of Michelangelo's favorite quarries.

We did get a 2nd next year (equal to a 3rd this year) and that 4th (equiv. to a 5th). So mid-rounder-value, as expected.

fullblast
I soured on Darnold big time this year but he’s landing into a great situation with receivers, an all-pro RB, a forward thinking OC and a solid defense. His time here was squandered by incompetence at the GM and ownership level. I’ll be rooting for him. 3
