Popular Post IndianaJet
Lol...the author of the article lists them as a likely spot. No chance unless Wilson get's hit by a car in the offseason. They're making their bed with Wilson and they're not going to spend $20+ million a year on Jimmy G as a backup.
Untouchable
No chance it happens The dude is constantly injured and has developed a very real reputation for coming up small in big spots despite a stacked team around him. Wilson and Flacco will be the QB’s next year barring Flacco retiring. Jimmy G and Mike White will be elsewhere

Rhg1084
So $20m of our precious cap space to a backup QB? Doesn’t seem like good resource allocation
JoJoTownsell1
Niners had him for years, watched him in practice and games and decided to draft Lance and are happy to let him go. Please tell me why the Jets would want him? If he is willing to come here for a standard backup QB contract? I guess. But he is going to want real money and a chance to start. Pass.

heymangold
listen, it's just like Dak, Cousins, etc. he isn't a bad qb. if you look at stats and all, he was decent this year. is he a top 15 starter? probably not. if he's willing to come here as a backup on low money, it's absolutely worth it. like it's being said, he knows the offense and if zach gets hurt, he's capable of coming in and winning games. i mean the dude is 33-14 in his career. i still think he'll get a chance to start somewhere. With Tampa Bay open, there's a spot. If rodgers or wilson leave, he has GB and SEA as options. Houston, Pittsburgh, heck even Cleveland might be looking for QBs.

Biggs
I really don't see a need for him here. Reality is if he was our QB, with all his flaws he would be the best QB we have had since Vinny.

Popular Post Joe W. Namath
Jimmy G is a starter in this league. The broncos, redskins, saints, steelers and panthers could all bring him in and he would be an immediate starter. He is not coming to the jets or anywhere else to be a backup.
munchmemory
If he and Jimmy GQ were truly allowed to compete for the starting job I doubt Wilson could beat him out. That's why GQ will never be a Jet.

Keep in mind Lance is beating him out of SF.

Just like us with Wilson before this season, the Niners' organization has announced that they are all in with Lance as the starter next season. IMO, Lance will be one of the biggest mega-busts ever.

Irish Jet
Absolutely the guy to sign so long as the demands aren't crazy. No way Saleh and Douglas can afford to assume Wilson will make the jump, you need some insurance.

Hes a top 15 starter, and is probably in that 9-12 spot over the course of his career these last few years. Which is a spot that gets you into championship games, but never quite gets over the hump. Dak and Cousins are good comparisons. There is no way he comes to the Jets unless the coaching staff feel likes Wilson needs to sit for 2 or 3 years b/c JG will start 100% of the time If he’s here. And yea, he will command a very high price on the market.

jetstream23
He's coming out of a great system that should have won Matt Ryan a Super Bowl. He's been playing under Kyle Shanahan and along with George Kittle and Deebo Samuel, and with a defense that is constantly getting him good field position. What could possibly go wrong with bringing him to "San Francisco East" so that he can play under Shanahan-light and along with Ryan Griffin and Corey Davis, waiting to start drives from his own 25 yard line after the Jets D gives up a TD on every drive?

WestCoastMole
San Francisco is keeping Jimmy G. around and will have him as their starting QB for at least the first half of the season next year.

The reason you bring in a Jimmy G for a year is that you can actually evaluate the roster if Zach is struggling. There were times last year where the QB was clearly holding the team back. He's a guy who will do well in a good situation - If he comes in and does well then Douglas has done some good work and the QB is the issue. It's easy to just say we'll sink or swim with Wilson but our jobs aren't on the line.
20andOut
A lazy writer trying to fill his required minimum word count. No way any QB is going from Conference Championship to settling for back up roll, or backup paycheck in a league where multiple teams are in desperate need of a starter.

THE BARON
JG is not going to the Jets. Neither party would be or should be interested. A better question regarding the Jets QB situation. By what game in the 2022 season will Zach Wilson show himself to be a quality starting QB in the NFL or another monumental Jet 1st round draft bust ??? IMHO, if we don't see clear and regular quality QB play by game 4, it is time to "ROSEN" ZW and start looking to the 2023 draft
varjet
Jimmy G is due $25.5mm next year, not guaranteed. It is the last year of his contract. The 49ers should put him up for bid. Should the Jets pay $10mm for a real alternative/back up? Probably. Not draft picks for one year. For some teams the Conference Championships are a good goal. Let’s see who breaks down and picks up Jimmy G. This would definitely be the Johnsons of prior years.
