    • You are right about the standard approach--use '23 to predict 24 and if more is earned it is taken into account in '25. I think we both agree that it's odd for Jason not to go with that, especially after having done when first posting Smith. But as you say, he may not feel like the info he's getting is solid, even though it's been all over the net.

    • This is what I'm most curious about with this deal. The reduced contract JFM got is what, half of what he was owed? With more guaranteed, sure, but it feels like for the level of cap space savings (roughly 7.5m instead of the 9.1m we got), keeping the player at the same contract he got in Denver would have been worth it? Seems like a sensible restructure.  A small part of me suspects JFM reached a point where he simply said "screw it" and no reduced contract was keeping him in town. I've read he was told he'd have reduced snaps with Reddick arriving, so perhaps that was the other influence here on why the Jets didn't get the deal Denver did?
